The Association for Social Economics is preparing to hold its combined World Congress and Summer School, a two-day event, in June of 2027.
The World Congress is the largest ASE-sponsored conference, held once every 3 years and preceded by a one-day workshop titled Summer School for graduate students, junior academics, and practitioners in social economics.
The ASE is looking for coordinator(s) to host the event at their institutions or other institutions where they have contacts. Once this is finalized with the ASE leadership, the role of the coordinators will consist of:
- Being the primary point of contact for all communications with the hosting institution’s admins.
- Arranging on-site locations for conferences and workshops. The conference usually features 3-4 concurrent sessions (with around 20 attendees) and lasts one day. The Summer School is held the day before the conference, which is held in a 30-seat lecture/seminar hall.
- Finding on-site housing options, such as dormitories, to keep lodging expenses manageable for attendees.
- Arranging suitable vendors for on-site lunch and coffee service.
- Suggesting venues for evening social events (could be off-site).
- Possibly securing in-kind or financial sponsorship from the hosting institution and local organizations to partially offset the event’s cost. (This is not a deal-breaker but a welcome perk.)
- Incorporating the city/location into the program in various ways.
The coordinator will have the ASE leadership’s support and guidance throughout the process, and funding will be available to hire assistants who are students and/or others both before and during the event.
