The Association for Social Economics is holding its World Congress on June 5-6, 2024 at the University of Massachusetts Boston. It will be preceded by a two-day Summer School for graduate students and recent PhDs on June 3-4, 2024.

Organizing Committee for the 2024 World Congress: Leila Davis, Chris Jeffords, Harry Konstantinidis, Christine Ngo, and Zoe Sherman.

Plenary speakers include William A. Darity, Dania Francis, Sirisha Naidu, Juliet Schor, and Pavlina Tcherneva.

Location

The University of Massachusetts Boston is located in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The campus is accessible via public transportation from Logan International Airport and South Station Train Terminal.

If you arrive at South Station, take the Red Line to the JFK/UMass stop. If you arrive from Boston Logan, you can take the (free) Silver Line to South Station, followed by the Red Line to the JFK/UMass stop.

A free shuttle (Route 1) connects JFK/UMass Station and Bayside Inbound with the UMass Boston Campus Center. See Shuttle Bus Information and live shuttle tracker.

All World Congress sessions take place at University Hall, right next to the Campus Center.

 

Lodging

Hotel: If you are staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bayside, you can get to campus either on foot or using the free shuttle.

Dorm information: If you are staying in the UMass Boston dorms, you can check in at the housing office between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm at Residence Hall East (1st Floor, 240 Morrissey Blvd, Boston, MA 02125). If you are arriving on Sunday or when the office is closed, please ask the guard on duty at Residence Hall East to contact the on-call staff so that you can receive your keys. This is the taller of the two residence halls.

Parking: If you are arriving by car, you can park either at the West Garage or in the Quad Lot. If you are parking overnight, you will need to park in the West Garage. The daily rate in both locations is $15/day during the week and $10/day over the weekend. The overnight rate is an additional $10 for overnight parking.

 

Where to Eat

There are few options for food, coffee and snacks at UMass Boston. Most options are closer to the JFK/UMass or the Savin Hill stop, about 1 mile from campus.
